OSHA cites Lowellville metal fabrication shop

LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - OSHA said it has cited a Lowellville company for failing to protect workers from safety and health hazards.

OSHA cited the metal fabrication shop at Garland Welding with 30 violations.

A complaint prompted a health inspection last year and a subsequent safety inspection.

Proposed fines for the company are $94,500.

OSHA’s area director said failing to have proper machine guards increases the risk of amputation among others.

Of the 30 violations, 14 are serious health violations.  The company has 15 days to answer the complaints.
